Real Flow SD File Export SOP
|
The Real Flow SD File
Export SOP (Surface Operator) will export Houdini geometry to
Real Flow SD (Scene Description) files including animated objects.
You have the choice to export a static model (not animated)
or animated over a range of frames. You can also export any set
of points from Houdini as Real Flow particle BIN files. All attributes
(if present) in the geometry will be written to the file. (The
emitters transformation parameters are in the GUI at the "object
level").
Example #1: "Vessel" (coming soon)
An example that demonstrates creating a NURBs model in Houdini,
exporting the geometry into Real Flow, then create a simple flowing
fluid and make it swirl through the geometry.

The Real Flow SD File Export
SOP Interface:
Setup Page Parameters:
File Name: The name of the Real Flow SD file to
save.
SD/BIN File: Select the file you wish to export,
Real Flow particle files (BIN), or scene files (SD)
Animated: If checked, the exported Real Flow SD
file will contain animation information for the exported geometry
over the desired range of frames as set in the "Start/End"
fields.
Start/End: The beginning and end frames
Echo Data to Console
(debug): If checked, the geometry being processed will be
echoed to the system console for debugging purposes. This is helpful
for determining if the incoming geometry is in fact triangular
polygon geometry (be careful, for complex geometry, this can
slow your computer for some time).
Write Real Flow SD File: When pressed, the Real
Flow SD file will be written to disk.

|
SD File Page Parameters:
Object Name: The
name of object when imported into Real Flow
Texture File Name (not yet implemented):
The file name of the texture file to include in the Real Flow
SD file.
Apply Object Transform: When checked, the transformations
at the OBJ level will be applied to the geometry written to the
SD file.

|
BIN File Page Parameters:
Fluid Name: The name of the fluid to be
exported to Real Flow
Fluid Type: The type of fluid (Gas, Liquid A, Liquid
B, Gen A, Gen B, Dumb, Elastics)
Frames/Second: The animation frame rate (24, 25,
30 in fps)
Pressure (Min, Max, Avg): The pressure attributes.
Speed (Min, Max, Avg): The speed attributes.
Temperature (Min, Max, Avg): The temperature attributes
Emitter Position, Rotation, Scale: The emitter's
position, rotation and scale.
