Real Flow Geometry Import SOP

The Real Flow Geometry Import SOP enables the user to import Real Flow particle, mesh and SD files (Real Wave surfaces and dynamics), with the option of including any of the attributes generated in the Real Flow simulation contained in the files.

Example #1: "2 fluids in a vase" (coming soon)
The "2 fluids in a vase" example from Real Flow (included with Real Flow); particles are generated in Real Flow then imported into Houdini and rendered as metaballs using Mantra and a few standard VEX shaders.

Example #2: "boat wake" (coming soon)
The "boat wake": an example of importing geometry created in Houdini and using it to deform a Real Wave surface. The surface data is then imported back into Houdini to add other effects and for final rendering.

The Real Flow Geometry Import SOP Interface:
The Real Flow Geometry Import SOP interface is very simple, merely the name of the Real Flow particle, mesh or SD file(s) to read, and a set of toggles to allow the user to include the Real Flow attribute or not, thus keeping the geometry as light and as efficient as possible.

The Real Flow SD File Import SOP Interface:

Setup Page Parameters
Filename: The name of the file to import.
File Type: Select the type of Real Flow file to import; particle, mesh or SD.:

Particle Attribute Page Parameters:
(select the attribute(s) to import):

Mesh Attribute Page Parameters:
(select the attribute(s) to import):

SD File Attribute Page Parameters:
Texture: When checked, the texture coordinates (U,V,W) from the Real Flow SD file will be imported into the geometry.
CG (Position, Velocity, Angular Rotation): When checked, the object's "CG" (position, velocity and angular rotation) are written into the geometry's detail and point attributes (not completely implemented yet).
Apply Object Transformations: When checked, the objects transformations (translation, rotation and scale) are applied to the geometry (e.g.RBD "dynamics" files)
Apply CG transformations: When checked, the object's "CG"transformations (position, and rotation) are applied to the geometry (e.g.RBD "dynamics" files)

Here's the pop-up information window for the Real Flow Import SOP (MMB on the SOP tile), note that all of the
imported particles attributes are read and available for use just like any point attribute in Houdini:

Here is a the SOP spreadsheet of the Real Flow import SOP, showing the imported attributes and their values for imported particles:
